Just a short ferry ride from Port McNeill on Vancouver Island (approx 25 min) you will arrive in the centre of Sointula, the heart of Malcolm Island... A bee hive of activity every ferry arrival & departure... Then back to our quiet, laid back ways... Sointula offers you all the amenities needed for your stay... Further along 1st Ave. in a westerly direction .(left off the ferry)... there is the community centre, library and museum, at this point, the road narrows going past old houses, boat & net lofts to the marina and points beyond, Bere Point, The Lighthouse... Lets back track to the centre of Sointula... past the ferry terminal, along 1st Ave. in an easterly direction passing historical cemetery... at this point First St. turns into Kaleva Rd. (see Explore & Discover) ... This scenic 8km plus ocean drive, walk or bike winds you through the past & present ... were eagles soar, deer graze, past fields with cattle, old houses, boat & net lofts all the while with the ocean scene to your right... Half way down Kaleva Rd. (approx 4km) the road forks to the left up a steep hill going to Mitchell Bay approx 15km (see Explore & Discover)... Enjoy your adventures!!!
